Wildflower Meadow Management – Menstrie Community Woodland

EPIC support local communities in improving greenspaces on their doorsteps. A perfect example of this is the work at Menstrie Community Woodland. Menstrie Community Council bought Menstrie Wood (also known as Red Carr Wood) in July 1998 on behalf of the local community, with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

EPIC have been involved since 2017, supporting the creation and management of a wildflower meadow close to Hillfoots Road. We have been planting trees which will provide foraging opportunities for local people and pollinators as well as hedgerow species for the birds (and hedgehogs!).

Although the weather wasn’t always the kindest to us, the volunteers and I have been blown away by the results which many will have seen passing by.
