Hedge Weeding – Devon Meadow

Weeding a hedgeIn partnership with Sustrans, the volunteers had the opportunity to be involved in weeding overgrown hedges along the cycle route between Alva and Tillicoultry. This encouraged the growth of previously planted species such as hawthorn and blackthorn.

Volunteering with sustrans on this project was highly rewarding for the volunteers.  They met other volunteers from the local community and learned more about the succession of hedges and wildflower meadows.  It also provided stunning views of the Ochill hils situated behind the hedges.

During the task day 950m2 of hedges were weeded between Alva and Tillicoultry.

I enjoy working outside [in these sites], getting exercise and exploring my local area
